Corporate Holiday Gifting
Holiday gifting goes wrong in one specific way: the decision gets made in November for a thing that needed deciding in September. Here is the actual calendar, what to budget, and what to put in the box — no email required to read any of it.
When do you need to order holiday corporate gifts?
There are three 2026 holiday deadlines to work back from.
| Deadline | Date | What it covers |
|---|---|---|
| Priority | September 15 | The earliest window and the least crowded. Widest product selection, most room for custom decoration, and the best chance of landing before the December pile-up. |
| Standard | November 1 | All products, including custom-decorated programs. This is the date most holiday programs should be working towards. |
| Rush | December 1 | In-stock products only. Custom decoration and custom packaging are not available this late. |
How much should you spend per person?
Pick a per-person number before you pick a total.
“$65 per client, 340 clients” is a decision you can act on. “$22,000” is a target someone will cut. Most corporate holiday programs land somewhere between $45 and $150 a head, and a well-chosen $65 gift consistently reads as more considered than a $150 box with six things nobody wanted in it.
If the budget will not stretch across everyone at the level you had in mind, personalization is usually a better lever than price. A lower-cost item with someone's name on it carries a higher implied value than a more expensive generic one — and it lets you keep everyone on the list instead of cutting names to protect a per-head figure.
Two tools if you need to defend the number: the Gifting ROI Calculator shows how many client relationships the program has to hold on to before it pays for itself, and the Budget Planner works out what a per-person figure buys across your list.
What should actually go in a holiday gift box?
Fewer things, chosen properly, with some of the budget spent on presentation.
- One or two genuinely useful items beat five forgettable ones. Item count and perceived value are not the same thing.
- Spend part of the budget on the box. The packaging is part of the gift, not the wrapper around it — it is the first thing they see and the thing that sets expectation.
- Brand selectively. Not everything needs a logo. A gift covered in your branding reads as marketing; one thoughtful mark reads as a gift.
- Personalize where it will be seen. A name engraved on the item does more work than an extra item in the box.
- Tech items are filler. They are the easiest thing to add and the first thing forgotten.
- Write the card properly. It costs a couple of dollars and twenty minutes, and it is the part people keep.
Clients or employees?
They are different problems. Client gifting is about being remembered by someone who has other options — it works best when it arrives at an unexpected moment and does not read as a sales touch. Employee gifting is judged differently: an employee compares what they received against whatever else is sitting on the desks around them, which is exactly why personalization matters more here than spend does. Neither fixes a bad year; both keep a good relationship from quietly going cold, which is how most of them actually end.
How BirdieBox handles holiday programs
Full custom-printed boxes with inside-lid artwork, custom kitting and fulfillment, and shipping to as many individual addresses as you have — including remote employees and client home addresses via CSV upload. Variable-data personalization means every box can carry a different name without a separate production run. No order minimums: one box or one thousand. Every box is opened, checked and photographed before it is sealed, so nobody has to take our word for how it went out.
BirdieBox is woman-owned and WBENC-certified. We are also a registered ASI (279508), PPAI (799707) and SAGE (238523) supplier, and we blind-ship distributor orders.
Tell us your number and your headcount
We will tell you honestly what we would send for it — and if we think you should spend it somewhere else, we will say that too.
